Problems of Prostitution among Albanians
Prostitution and many other negative
phenomena, which most of these phenomena
are closely related with education process
of the individual. While I was reading
about prostitution as a common occurrence
among us, I had a feeling that a great
number of citizens are in concordance with
this dreadful events of our time. It is
clear that from that, we have confused
nature, but if this silence is to be
continued, alongside these shocking
phenomena our confusion will increase
greatly. Personally, I am optimistic for
better days, but we cannot neglect the
weaknesses that are becoming more common
among us. Inefficient display of these
occurrences and not finding a proper
settings for displaying the true nature of
these phenomena will affect our people to
the extend that we are going to lose in
time and space. Our population is small in
number, to survive we must preserve
ourselves more than the others. If our
ancestors brought us up to here and in
this stage, we must continue the tradition
and not to baffle ourselves more with
mistakes, subsequently we must learn from
them and eradicate these obstacles. Our
ancestors did not allow that their
families disintegrate to that extend,
disintegration of our community in our
time is incomparable with the time of our
ancestors. We are aware of mistakes of
previous generations and good work of one
generation cannot change for the better
our generation. This clearly defined from
our Prophet, the messenger of God, who
warned the believers: I seek refuge
from Allah that five qualities do not
occur among you. The viciousness does not
spread until people invite it. If it
appears and it is apparent enough, certain
infectious diseases and strange pains
among their predecessors… another
saying goes: If prostitution and
interest emerges in one society then they
themselves have invited the punishment of
Allah. If we try to comment of these
statements, we perceive AIDS as horrendous
disease. It was appeared as firstly among
homosexuals and prostitutes, not to
mention the penalty of which we
experienced few years ago, but the
complication is that we don’t get a lesson
from all this. Bearing the fact that we
are nation with small population, it is
not in our interest to challenge the
diseases of our time. We are witness of
great expenses on marketing and
advertising on fight against the AIDS,
disease that was not common among us.
Migration of Prostitutes from Northeast
Moreover we are witness of our actual
condition our standpoint on prostitution.
It is present, we all see it, but we do
not want to acknowledge this situation. We
behave as if we do not see it, but I
believe that everyone among us prays to
God saying, “God willing it will keep it
away from my home.” Without doubt, an
atheist does this praying as well.
I
n one village in Tetova, while the
congregation was coming out of the mosque
after they finished praying Maghrib, in
one of the houses next to the mosque some
girls were coming out, strange to an eye
of the common observer. These women are
from Moldavia, Ukraine, and Russia. As the
congregation was expressing their sorrow
for these women, one cynic said, “They are
not prostitutes, but stripteasers. This
village is not the only one, there are
many examples from many villages and
cities in the regions populated with
Albanians. These indeed are shocking
events and nobody takes it seriously. I
have heard any of the heads of families
saying, “Let the God’s shame befell upon
them,” but this is not enough. Indeed
Allah is going to shame them one day, but
it does not suit our call for changing the
society in this world. We are waiting the
days to come, taking no immediate actions,
most probably we’ll receive the same
amount of the shame in ourselves, being
indifferent and terrified when we come
across these vicious deeds. Nobody but
nihilists is being patient. Sometime in
the past the people were judging the imams
for their nihilism, but now I’ll take a
stand and claim, where are we, why we
don’t raise the voice against this vile
acts which is destroying our moral and
families?! Alternatively, we going to go
on and saying just like we said years ago
“wait till we get an independence, then
we’ll deal with this things effortlessly”!
Local Prostitutes and Social Outcomes
As the reader was preparing to read this
article with ease, he found out that a
great number of these girls are Albanians.
In fact, one of the reports done by IWPR
published in “Epoka e Re”, days before we
acknowledge that Albanian prostitutes are
roaming the streets of Europe. The number
goes up to 100.000. As it seems in a
report, the number of prostitutes working
in Greece are not included, it is
estimated that 40 to 50 thousand girls
operating in Greece. For sure, the number
is approximately the same of the girls
working in our regions, just in Albanian
the number of prostitutes operating is
appalling. Even in Kosova the umber is
increasing because of the international
staff in the country. The clientele is
Albanian because their counterpart brought
the girls with good price so many people
can afford to visit them. The living
standard is higher among the international
staff so they demand young and local
girls. The less poor local clientele
demands for older and cheaper.
Those who exercise this activity applying
this formula have managed to conceal the
secret, foreign men with local girls and
local men with foreign girls. Serbs and
Greeks are and continue being our enemies
for centuries. They never wished anything
good for us. Their unremitting effort to
wipe us from our regions because they did
not succeed in many attempts, but this
time if we carry on like this we are going
to approve their oppression. We did not
forget the tales of our ancestors on the
sufferings they had, because we have
similar experience.
Family is Sacred
The Serbs have developed the art of crime
involving us in this process. They could
not or did not know how, but I consider
that they handle to miss the opportunity
to disintegrate the Albanian family. They
had no vision and for this, we thank God
almighty. They tried to smear our faith,
but their attempt was fruitless. They did
weaken it to some extend. Previous
generation has succeeded in preserving the
family being grateful to the religious
education that saved us from total
assimilation. While we enjoy our Fredom,
our generation is loosing its family.
If this process is to be
continued regretfully I am saying soon we
we will lose our nation. The best claim
for proving my case is Greek politics in
Albania. It has managed cunningly to
convert hundreds of thousands Albanian
into Greek nationality. These people now
have their Greek names with Albanian
passports; they have a right to vote for
Greek party in Albanian, etc. In Greece,
more 40.00 Albanian girls operate as
successful prostitute. What kind of
patriotism we expect from this human being
with no dignity for herself. Such a kind
of people they wished they were dead let
alone contributing for the community. In
most of the cultures the family is
considered as sacred, in our society as it
appears family is dissolving in a great
pace. There is no doubt; our national
identity is weakening more each and more
each day.
Woman’s Emancipation in Danger, Mafia
craft the Laws
According to the IWRP reports “many girls
refuse to go to school because the fright
that they might fall into the hands of
traficants is great”. Save the Children,
organization has done a research in 2001
which shows that in far remote areas
children have to walk to school for more
than one hour, 90% e girls have
discontinued their formal education.
If we say that prostitution is a result of
poverty the claim that this society is not
accurate. If one society no matter how
impoverished it is, if it has strong
foundations, it has own identity, it
cannot contain ugly sights inside herself.
If we are to put up with these phenomena,
furthermore we might find ourselves on the
edge of national downfall. The network of
organized crime will continues to grow
until that extends that hardship will
befell on the next generation, to heal the
wounds of or blunder. We know that codes
of crime do not recognize any religion and
nation. The probability that or own Mafia
has good links with Serbian Mafia or wider
circle of neighboring states. They do not
feel sorry if their own people have not
nation state. They traffic local and
international girls. Mafia is not
concerned with history and
inter-brotherhood relations, their main
concern is how to get rich stepping aside
all the consequences. The barriers of
language, religion, and tradition among us
do not exist. Corruption has started
affecting the offices of laws, customs,
and tourism. However if no action is taken
to eradicate this awful practice, it will
stretch to other institution.
Problem Solving
In healthy body lies a healthy spirit it
says one folk tradition. It is hard to
find healthy mind, when our body is
amputated. We always have studied the
consequences, but not the problem itself.
However, before we find the solution to
our quandaries we must bring the examples
from the voluntarily effort done by Mr.
Xhavit Shala, an ex. police inspector who
worked for a law enforcement agency. He
had lost hopes for implementing his
project. His project involved the
rehabilitation and re-integration of
females, victims of trafficking supposedly
financed from the local government of
Albania. He found some donations from
local donators just not to let the
infection of the wound spreading. His
capabilities are very limited, they do not
wipe out the problem, but it is needed a
bold and energetic move to other parts of
the state. In those cases it will be
needed an outside aid from local or
republican government, however they
consider these problems as minor to be in
their policies and agendas. They consider
small problems because they are part of
the organized crime. Thus what can Mr.
Shala do! He is indeed for many families
is honored and respected, but for sure
this is not enough as long as the
politicians are dealing with small
“things”, their conscience of the elite to
fid the means and material stimulation to
heal this wound before it is to late.
Therefore, I impart some proposals, which
are not studied carefully but are the
reflection of my inertness of this
terrible wound.
Urgent Measures

I propose, in concordance with the
proposal of Mr. Shala that people who
has been the subject of trafficking to
re-integrate in our society, that their
families change the stance and stop
prejudice against them.

Considering the facts and circumstances
we are living today the prostitutes who
are willing to practice their
profession, will be granted with the
permit to continue this filthy vocation,
they will be granted with permit to open
brothels, as long as they do not pollute
our environment.
-
Those women will be prohibited from
vesting their families, saying we almost
we cleaned the wound with chirurgical
intervention.
-
We will treat the disease according to
our potential. Those who intentionally
infect themselves and society, and those
children who are infected from AIDS
since they were in their mother wound.
Those who have these diseases as the
result of their professions had better
not be sorry for themselves, because the
society cannot rehabilitate for them.
The budget of Kosova is 22US$ the
priority for this aid will be for those
who deserve it
Long-term Measures
-
I propose religious course in our formal
education. This course would be not only
a deterrent measure but it will be a
good regulator and catalyst for
maintaining the prosperity of our
society.

Those who are responsible for their
families it is in their best interest to
attempt to marry their children as soon
as possible. I do not agree with those
who support the idea that early
marriages are cause for discontinuation
of the education, in contrary it stimuli
and gives energy to the society.

The psychologists suggest that
motivational and educative activities
for adolescents are very crucial. In
other words, we must try to limit the
negative thinking, especially when we
can find many advices from the Prophet
of God, Muhammad a.s.
-
The heads of the families are very close
with their children. The parents must
visit the kids at school at least once a
month even though this practice it is
best suited if they visit them once a
week. This regulation must e implemented
from the Ministry of Education, Science,
and Technology.
